Through the Erasmus+ Credit Mobility Programme, every year VUM welcomes incoming students for studies from its Partner Universities situated in numerous Partner Countries, for which VUM attracts funds.
During the academic years 2018/2019, 2019/2020, and 2020/2021, VUM is involved in the Erasmus+ mobility project 2018-1-BG01-KA107-047041, which was approved in July 2018. The project eligibility period is between 1st June 2018 – 31st July 2021. The beneficiary Partner Countries included in the project are Albania, Lebanon, Mongolia, and Vietnam from which 6 Partner Universities in total will take part in the project. There are 19 approved incoming Erasmus+ student mobilities for studies from the above-mentioned Partner Universities in the fields of Business, Management, Administration, Hospitality, and Tourism, which are distributed as follows:
University of Shkodra “Luigj Gurakugi”
The University of Shkodra, “Luigj Gurakuqi” offers wonderful possibilities in higher education based on traditions in education, highly professionally qualified national and international staff, various possible choices from faculties and branches (6 faculties and 24 branches), and programmes (“Universiteti I Shkodrës “Luigj Gurakuqi” |”, 2019).
The university is also known internationally because of many inter-institutional collaborations with many associates and higher education institutions all around the world. It has provided strong collaborative relations with international universities, different foundations, organizations, and associations. In this relation, the university has signed several Erasmus+ Bilateral Agreements with other HEIs, Collaboration Agreements, and Memorandum of Understanding documents (Universiteti I Shkodrës “Luigj Gurakuqi”, 2019).
During the academic year 2018/2019, VUM has welcomed about 5 Erasmus+ student mobilities for studies from the University of Shkodra, “Luigj Gurakuqi”, as well as 8 incoming Erasmus+ staff mobilities for teaching in the framework of project 2017-1-BG01-KA107-035894, which contributed to greater cultural awareness through the students (Mobility Tool, 2019).
Universite de Saint Esprit – Kaslik Autorite Religieus
USEK is a private Catholic higher education institution. The university provides an excellent study environment and service to its undergraduate, freshman, master, and Ph.D. students, during the academic year 2017-2018 over 7 340 registered at its faculties and schools to name but a few Faculty of Sciences, USEK Business School, Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities, and others (USEK, 2019).
USEK is a private Catholic higher education institution. The university provides an excellent study environment and service to its undergraduate, freshman, master, and Ph.D. students, during the academic year 2017-2018 over 7 340 registered at its faculties and schools to name but a few Faculty of Sciences, USEK Business School, Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities, and others (USEK, 2019).
The International Affairs Office runs the university’s international relations and develops internationalization modes to meet the new challenges of globalization. It manages partnerships, supports international cooperation, and promotes student mobility. Internationalization is at the heart of the university community. Being a means of exchange and excellence, this process constitutes nowadays a major component of the university mission. The International Affairs Office seeks to develop an international environment in order to better prepare students, faculty, and personnel to meet the challenges of a globalized world.
During the previous academic years, VUM had the pleasure to welcome 7 Erasmus+ student mobilities for studies and 1 Erasmus+ staff mobility for teaching from USEK in the frameworks of project numbers 2016-1-BG01-KA107-023128 and 2016-2-BG01-KA107-035184, which has led to further internationalising of the VUM community (Mobility Tool, 2019).
Mongolian University of Science and Technology
MUST is one of the leading state universities in Mongolia. Currently, over 22 000 students including international students are studying at MUST, and 120 professors and over a thousand staff are involved in the university’s life and activities (MUST, 2019).
MUST international relations team provide its faculty members and students with great opportunities to develop a global partnership with their world partners. MUST have signed Memorandum of Understanding documents with over 120 universities in 21 countries around the world to offer faculty members and talented students with global business and knowledge experiences (MUST, 2019).
Its academic staff and students have opportunities to work overseas and improve their professional knowledge and competitiveness through MUST global partnership (MUST, 2019).
In this respect, it is worth mentioning that during the academic years 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 VUM welcomed 5 incoming Erasmus+ student mobilities for studies from MUST in the frameworks of project numbers 2016-1-BG01-KA107-023128 and 2017-1-BG01-KA107-035894 (Mobility Tool, 2019).
The students had the chance to share their culture, traditions, and experience with the VUM community, which is additionally one of the aims of the VUM strategy for Internationalisation at Home.
Haiphong University
Haiphong University is a public university with 712 staff members, of which 439 are faculty staff and 273 are academic staff (Phòng, 2019).
The goal of the school is to build Haiphong University into a center for education, training, scientific research, and technology transfer (Phòng, 2019).
Recently, the university has signed a Memorandum of Understanding documents and agreements with universities such as Tomsk National University (Russia), Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (Japan), Vaughn Aviation Technology University (USA), universities in Spain, China, and others, from which Haiphong University’s students can benefit from (Phòng, 2019).
In addition to this, due to the fruitful cooperation between VUM and Haiphong University under the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, until now in the frameworks of project numbers 2016-1-BG01-KA107-023128 and 2017-1-BG01-KA107-035894, VUM has welcomed 3 incoming Erasmus+ student mobilities for studies, who have contributed to the diversification of the multicultural environment at VUM (Mobility Tool, 2019).
Thai Nguyen University
Thai Nguyen University (TNU) is a public university, which at present has eleven (11) member-universities/colleges. Currently, TNU has 27 administrative units with 4,406 civil servants with 2,808 teaching staff, including 115 professors and associate professors, 513 Ph.D. and 2,104 master’s degree holders. In addition, TNU sent approximately 1,000 faculty staff to study postgraduate level all over the world (TNU, 2019).
TNU was mandated to provide education, training, research, and technology transfer in the fields of teacher education, agriculture and forestry, medicine and pharmacy, science, economics and business administration, information and communications technology, industrial technology, foreign languages, and vocational trainings and related fields towards socio-economic and cultural development for the northern mountainous area of Vietnam (TNU, 2019).
With the indefatigable effort of the University constituents through the Department of International Cooperation (DIC), TNU is actively promoting cooperation with international counterparts to become one of the leading Universities to make Vietnam a vital participant in the global arena in promoting quality education (TNU, 2019).
Thanks to the already established successful cooperation between the two universities in the frameworks of project numbers 2016-1-BG01-KA107-023128 and 2017-1-BG01-KA107-035894, VUM had the pleasure to welcome 6 incoming Erasmus+ student mobilities for studies and 1 incoming Erasmus+ staff mobility for training/teaching (Mobility Tool, 2019).
VNU University of Economics and Business
VNU University of Economics and Business (VNU-UEB), a member of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), has been known as a young and dynamic university with a strategic vision and a strong determination towards international standards in education and research (VNU-UEB, 2019).
VNU University of Economics offers undergraduate programmes of study in the fields of Business Administration, International Economics, Finance and Banking, Accounting, Economics, and Development Economics. The university has 2 253 faculty members, 1 819 staff member, 72 Professors, 326 Associate Professors, and 1 178 Doctors of Science and PhDs. In addition to this, it educates over 25 820 undergraduate students, 8 080 master’s and Ph.D. students, 3 226 gifted high school students, 300 high schools of education science students, and 1 163 international students (VNU-UEB, 2019).
With the purpose of broadening and improving the effectiveness of international cooperation while maintaining national identity in education & training and nurturing Vietnamese youths, VNU aims to develop long-term relations with well-known international universities and organizations by working together to do joint research and technology transfer at the university and graduate level, hold international conferences, exchange students and lecturers, etc (VNU-UEB, 2019).
Currently, VNU has relations with 135 universities and educational organizations including the world-leading ones including VUM. Due to the precious cooperation between VUM and VNU-UEB in the frameworks of project numbers 2016-1-BG01-KA107-023128 and 2017-1-BG01-KA107-035894, there were 7 incoming Erasmus+ student mobilities for studies completed during the previous academic years (Mobility Tool, 2019).
