Through Erasmus+, every year VUM welcomes staff members from its partner universities in Europe and gladly provides them with the opportunity to carry out a staff mobility at VUM for both teaching and/or training purposes. The incoming staff mobility is considered a key element in the processes of the so-called internationalization at home which is at the heart of VUM Internationalization Strategy.
VUM is eager to see a constant increase in the number of the incoming staff mobilities and stimulates any incoming staff mobility initiative which seems to fit the institution’s goals and agenda.
Application procedure, planning and organization of the staff mobility
Staff members of VUM partner universities in the Programme Countries are invited to submit their application form for staff mobility to VUM throughout the year. The Application Form shall be duly filled out by the staff member and emailed to email@example.com. Within two weeks after the receipt of the staff mobility application form, VUM Erasmus+ Team will contact the partner university and the applicant staff member to inform them on the available options for staff mobility at VUM. Once the staff mobility application has been approved by VUM, both side could start preparing for the actual mobility.
Staff mobility for teaching at VUM
VUM offers undergraduate and Master programmes in the fields of Business and Management, Hospitality and Tourism, and Software Engineering and Business Information Systems. All study programmes are fully delivered in English. Staff members motivated to teach at VUM in the framework of an Erasmus+ staff mobility are expected to teach between 8 and 12 hours in the period of 2 to 5 days. During the teaching mobility, incoming staff members will be also offered the opportunity to meet VUM academic staff members teaching and researching in the similar field for the purposes of exchange of good practices and discussion of possible joint research project and cooperation initiatives in the future. Incoming teachers and lecturers are kindly advised to take into account VUM academic calendar and make sure the teaching mobility suggested by them is aligned to it.

3rd (Summer) Semester: 5th June 2017 – 8th September 2017
Christmas holidays: 23rd December 2016 – 15th January 2017
Incoming staff members interested in teaching at VUM within the Erasmus+ programme are invited to fill out their Staff Mobility Agreement for Teaching and to email it to firstname.lastname@example.org at least 3 months prior to the planned start of the mobility. VUM Erasmus+ Team will provide a feedback on the suggested Staff Mobility Agreement within 2 weeks after having received the duly filled out Staff Mobility Agreement for Teaching and will proceed to signing on the part of the receiving institution. The document represents a trilateral agreement between the staff members, his/her sending institution and VUM in its capacity of receiving institution.
Staff mobility for training at VUM
VUM may provide opportunities for job shadowing and staff training to staff members of partner universities. Depending on the professional profile and expertise of the non-academic staff member, the staff mobility could be hosted by VUM International Cooperation Department, Marketing and Admissions Department, International Project Department, Accounting and Finance, Student Affairs Department as well Student Welfare and Career Center. In the Application Form to be submitted to email@example.com the prospective staff mobility participant is expected to clearly state and list his/her areas of interest as well as the main themes for discussion during the mobility. In order to receive a formal invitation for a staff mobility to VUM, the staff member shall identify his/her expectations, intentions and motivation for the mobility. The job shadowing and staff training activities organized and facilitated by VUM take 2 to 5 days. The incoming staff members are expected to email a duly filled out draft of their Staff Mobility Agreement for Training no later than 3 months prior to the planned mobility start. VUM Erasmus+ Team will provide a feedback on the suggested Staff Mobility Agreement for Training within 2 weeks after having received it and will proceed to signing on the part of the receiving institution. The document represents a trilateral agreement between the staff members, his/her sending institution and VUM in its capacity of receiving institution.
Upon the incoming staff mobility completion, VUM Erasmus+ Team provides the staff member with the following documents:
- Confirmation of Stay issued by VUM
- Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Certificate issued by VUM.
Visa and entry requirements
Staff members who are EU citizens, do not need to obtain a visa in order to enter the country. Non-EU citizens and citizens of countries outside Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein, have to apply in advance for a visa to Bulgaria. VUM Erasmus+ Team assists the incoming Erasmus+ staff members during the visa application process and provides them with all necessary documents. Visa issuance may take up up to 2 months. VUM Erasmus+ incoming staff members to teach and get trained at VUM campus in Varna could book their accommodation at VUM facilities in Varna by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. In addition, they are welcome to arrange their own accommodation by choosing among a long lists of hotels in Varna.
VUM Erasmus+ incoming staff members to teach and/or get trained at VUM campus in Dobrich could book their accommodation at VUM student house in Dobrich by emailing email@example.com. Provided, they decide to stay in a hotel in Dobrich, they are invited to book their accommodation at any of the hotels close to Dobrich city center and VUM campus.
