Summer Internships – When Dreams and Passion Meet Together
Every summer, all VUM students complete their summer internships in different companies all over Europe. This helps gain hands-on experience related to their studies, refine their skills, and gain international and intercultural experience and much more. We are happy to share the testimonial of our student Vasilena Nankova, a 2nd-year student in our Gastronomy and Culinary Arts programme, who has completed her internship at Bar Bulot Zedelgem, Belgium, from May to July 2025:
Internship Experience – Bar Bulot Zedelgem, Belgium
During my culinary internship, I had a truly rewarding and enriching experience. I greatly enjoyed my time working in Bar Bulot Zedelgem in Belgium, where I was able to expand my skills, deepen my understanding of professional culinary operations, and gain valuable hands-on experience.
I had the opportunity to work closely with a talented and supportive team, learning not only technical skills but also the importance of teamwork, efficiency, and creativity in a professional kitchen. My training included exposure to various kitchen sections, and I was honored to be entrusted with the position of Chef de Partie for both the cold section and dessert station.
This role allowed me to take on greater responsibility, refine my presentation skills, and contribute directly to the quality and consistency of the dishes served.
At the end of my internship, I was offered a position to remain with the team.
Overall, my internship was an invaluable step in my culinary journey, and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and work in such a dynamic environment.
